Recap on DAPA’s Warragamba Dam & Persimmon Picking

A tour group is learning how to pick persimmons

Recap on DAPA’s Warragamba Dam & Persimmon Picking

On Tuesday, May 12th, nearly 50 DAPA participants, staff, family members and members of the community enjoyed a bus tour to Warragamba Dam, Club Marconi and The Persimmon Place. We hopped on the bus at Eastwood at 9am. We returned there at 5pm.

When we arrived at Warragamba Dam we got to marvel at the beauty of Lake Burragorang and the sheer magnificence of the Dam. A group photo was taken at the Visitor Centre lookout. Then we all got to experience the Water for Life Exhibition and were able to interact with the Drops of Wisdom table.

We then travelled to our lunch spot – the Star Buffet at Club Marconi where we all enjoyed a smorgasbord of international cuisine including Seafood, Asian, Carvery, Sushi Train and salads. I know the Dessert bar was a huge hit!!

With full and happy stomachs, we all hopped back on the bus for our final experience – fruit picking at The Persimmon Place. After an informative and interesting talk by one of the staff members – we all went in search of the best Persimmons to pick. With bags full of Persimmons (and other produce sold at the farm shop), and everyone now fully experienced fruit pickers, we merrily returned to the bus for the drawing of the Lucky Door (bus) Prizes. We arrived back at Eastwood uplifted with our newfound friendships and shared experiences, but a little tired after a fun and informative day out!
